We are a collective of three theatre companies who together aim to give something back to communities and community minded ‘folk’. Whether it be Schools, Amateur Dramatics groups, Village Halls, Church Groups or local youth centres and organisations, we endeavour to produce ideas that give that community a stronger bond.
The three companies are:
Just Add Water Theatre Company – specialising in original, thought provoking theatre using poetry, percussion and physical theatre.
Folka Theatre – creating imaginative and innovative theatre accessible to people from all sorts of backgrounds, telling stories physically, musically and vocally.
Tin Shed Theatre – telling contemporary, challenging stories in small spaces with minimal sets, focusing on the actors and the dialogue.
Our biggest inspiration comes from the people who get involved. We have found time and time again that there are so many skills within even the smallest or unlikeliest of groups. The wonderful voice that has been hidden away for years, the fabulous costume making that is usually just a hobby or the hidden tap dancing talent from the quiet, shy one of the group.
All our members have worked and trained professionally with local and international theatre companies and communities from Japan to Spain and New Zealand to Poland. The company’s practitioners have worked extensively with young people of all ages in community, film, music and theatre projects.
